Criminal Mischief

On Thursday June 28 deputy was dispatched to Matagorda in reference to a criminal mischief. Upon arrival deputy made contact with complainant who stated unknown subjects damaged his window screen and window pane on front door. He stated he saw to subject riding a bike and the other walking with a basketball earlier that day in the area but did not know who the where.

Missing person

On Thursday, June 28 deputy was dispatched to Matagorda in reference to a possible missing person. Upon arrival the complainant was stated the missing person left in his boat alone and said he was going fishing for a little while. He said he saw the boat and it did not look like anyone was on it.

A search party was called out which included Marine Deputy Lt. Craft, United States Coast Guard and the on-call investigator Sgt. Pruitt. Craft saw the boat was anchored, with the motor idling, at the mouth of the Colorado River near the end of the jetty. Lt. Craft also discovered a body floating face down in the water approximately 200 yards north of the boat on the west side of the river by the bank.

Traffic Stop

On Friday, June 29 deputy was patrolling highway 35 near the Colorado River bridge when he observed a white Ford Taurus traveling east bound. Using his radar he clocked the driver going 75 mph on a 55 mph zone. He followed the vehicle into Bay City and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on highway 60. Deputy ran license plate through and dispatched advised driver had no record. He made contact with driver and ran his information through dispatch and was advised driver was wanted on two warrants out of Matagorda County. He was arrested for DWLS and a failure to apear. Driver was transported to the Matagorda County jail and released to jail staff.


On Monday July 2 deputy was dispatched to Sargent in reference to a stabbing. While enroute dispatch advised the victim was at the Anglers RV Park in Sargent and the actor had left the location. Upon arrival first responders were already on location and deputy met with complainant who provided the information for the report. Complainant stated that a male subject had thrown a beer bottle hitting him on the right side of the face. He stated he was in his 2001 Ford Explorer with his girlfriend when the man opened the back passenger door and got in. After telling him to leave his vehicle he did not, he then walked a few feet ahead of him and had threw a beer bottle at him hitting him on the left side of the face causing it to bleed and leaving a few open wounds. He stated he then started walking back to the vehicle when he collapsed on the ground. A Dos Equis bottle was collected in front of tailor. EMS transferred man with injuries.


On June 29 deputy was dispatched to Bay City in reference to a disturbance. One hispanic male was later arrested for driving while intoxicated and evading arrest and detention of a motor vehicle.

Suspicious vehicle

On Sunday July 1 deputy checked on a possible motorist assist. Upon further investigation one hispanic male was arrested for public intoxication.
