John Wesley United Methodist Church receives new pastor

The Rev. Charles D. Stephens Sr. is the new pastor of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Victoria.

As a result of new clergy appointments in the Southwest Texas Annual conference, John Wesley United Methodist Church in Victoria received a new pastor.

The Rev. Charles D. Stephens Sr. was appointed to the church and began his duties on July 1, along with his wife, Raquel, and their three children, Vivian, Vanischa and Charles, Jr.

Stephens began his preaching ministry in 1987 at St. Johns Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in San Diego, Calif., and has served as pastor in a number of churches in California, Oklahoma, Ohio and Illinois.

In 2008, he transferred to the Southwest Texas Conference where he served as senior pastor at the historical Simpson United Methodist Church in Austin.

Retired from the United States military, Stephens is also a member of the Disabled Veterans of America and a former member of the Indiana Civil Air Patrol.
