Shiner wins District 31 softball tournament
HALLETTSVILLE - Shiner won the District 31 East Major League (11-12) tournament with a 9-3 win over Hallettsville on Sunday night.
Bethany Nevlud pitched a two-hitter and struck out 10 in pitching a complete game for Shiner.
Shiner broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run fourth inning that saw an error, three walks and and a two-run double by Claire Patek.
Shiner scored four more runs in the fourth with the aid of four bases on balls and a run-scoring single by Mackinly Pilat.
Pilat went 2-for-3 while Kaylin Dworsky had both of Hallettsville's hits and drove in one run in two at bats. Emily Mudd also had an RBI for Hallettsville.
Shiner played Monday night against the West Zone winner.
