Assault

On Tuesday, July 17, 2012, Sgt. Clayton Ryman of The Bay City Police Department reported that on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, a man staying at a hotel located in the 4600 Block of Seventh Street was assaulted by his supervisor. The victim alleged to have been struck by a glass bottle said Sgt. Ryman. Shortly afterwards, the assailant allegedly struck his employee in the head with a closed fist. Sgt. Ryman said according to the initial report given by the victim, the attack was unprovoked. The victim was left bruised and bloodied by the attacker. Investigators are interviewing witnesses in the case and the suspect was taken into custody on the afternoon of July 17, 2012. Sgt. Ryman said the suspect and victim were in Bay City working, and were temporarily staying at the hotel. The case is being investigated by Detective Maria Guajardo.



Narcotics Arrest

On Tuesday, July 17, 2012, Bay City Police Department reported that on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 an undercover operation netted one arrest and the seizure of over 8 grams of cocaine. David Cassell Baugh 28, was arrested for felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance, after he made arrangements to deliver the narcotics to an address inside the city limits, said Sgt. Ryman. Baugh was booked into Matagorda County Jail on the charges. Sgt. Ryman said the undercover operation was successful due to collaborative efforts by the Narcotics, CID, and Patrol Divisions.



Stolen bicycle

Lt. Lewis reported on Saturday, July 14, 2012, great supervising techniques and advanced communications technology enabled Bay City Police to recover a stolen bicycle within 30 minutes after it was reported stolen. Lewis said Sergeant Victor Hadash was called to Police Department to speak to a victim concerning his bicycle valued at over several thousand dollars being stolen from his residence in the 2100 block of 3rd street. Lewis said Hadash had dispatcher send a message to officer's mobile laptop computers. Within a minute of receiving the message, Officer Christopher Cunningham responded. In a relentless search Cunningham and other officers located the assailant riding the bicycle in the 3200 block of 7th street. Lewis said 24 year old Justin Crockett from Bay City was arrested and charged with Felony Possession Of Stolen Property. He was booked in Matagorda County Jail. Lewis gives great praises to Hadash and his entire shift.



Shooting

Lt. Andrew Lewis Spokesperson with Bay City Police Department reported that on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 around 11:00 pm, Bay City Police was called to the 1400 block of Ave B to investigate a shooting. Lewis said officers located the victim in the 1400 block Ave A with a gunshot wound to his back. Lewis said officers have persons of interest in this case. The victim was transported to Matagorda Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition is not known as of press time. The case is being investigated by Detective Maria Guajardo.
