Cement truck rolls over, injuring two

Two people were injured in a one-vehicle vehicle wreck involving a cement truck that lost control during a turn at U.S. Route 183N and Old Goliad Road in Cuero around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, said Trooper Don Plunkett with the Department of Public Safety.

The driver, Gene Ellison, of Victoria, was flown by helicopter to Hermann Memorial Medical Center in Houston. He was still being treated at 9:45 p.m., according to a hospital spokesperson.

The passenger, Monnie Darling, of Victoria, was taken to Citizens Medical Center where she was still being treated as of 9:30 p.m., according to a hospital spokesperson.

Details on their injuries and conditions were not immediately available.
