Podcaster Timothy Danger is one of the driving forces behind OMBG podcast that covers the local music scene. Danger reviews and listens to area bands.

Timothy "Danger" Lara may have rocked out on the stage for the last 20 years, but his love for music caused him to hit the digital waves.

The 36-year-old Victoria resident created a podcast "Old Man and Bitter Girl," which has picked up steam in its year-and-a-half of existence - musicians are seeking him out to be featured.

Lara is musically in tune with the life as an independent artist. He's in two bands, "The LoveLetter" and "Stout City Luchadores," and contributes with vocals, piano and keyboard.

Although Lara could use his platform to promote his own work, he opts not to because he said that he's following the golden rule of music.

"This gives the music listener a chance to know about the band and gives the musician a voice," he said.

The tagline "" culture pretty much sums up the niche market Lara has created.

He attributed part of the podcast success to keeping consistency; he posts a new episode almost every Monday.

Fans can follow the music enthusiast on Stitcher, iTunes, RSS Feeds, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube and ReverbNation.

His leading lady, Brea Guettner, gives a female perspective to the world of rock. Other contributors to the site are Allynn "M-Dawg" Garcia and Dean "The Wanksta" Winkenwerder.

The originality and authenticity of his podcast gives subscribers a sense of the musical scene.

"We're not concerned with the famous people, we want to focus on music we like," he said.
