Officials close state Highway 35 in Calhoun County as emergency personnel attend to a crash near Point Comfort.

State Highway 35 near Point Comfort was closed Tuesday afternoon because of a wreck involving an 18-wheeler and a passenger car.

One person was transported to Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, Calhoun County Sheriff's Office Deputy Scott Stanfield said.

Traffic was detoured onto Farm-to-Market Road 1593 to Lolita.

Another injury occurred when one of the wreckers clearing the wreck was injured after a cable snapped, according to Department of Public Safety officials.

The road was re-opened once the wreck was cleared, the DPS official said.
