Jackson County Ag Tour scheduled

The Jackson County Extension Field Crops Committee is conducting an ag tour of several grain and cotton crop demonstrations in the LaSalle, Vanderbilt areas starting at 4 p.m. Monday at the LaSalle Church Hall on County Road 325 in LaSalle.

Tour stops include Lloyd Kulak's farm, grain sorghum hybrids variety trial; Clinton Shutt, soybean variety trial; Sappington Farms, Regional Agronomic Cotton Evaluation; Sappington Farms, Monsanto/Delta Pine cotton demonstration; and Gabrysch Farms, corn variety test plot.

The tour speakers include Roy Parker, extension entomologist; Dan Fromme, extension agronomist; William Grichar, research scientist; Gaylon Morgan, associate professor and cotton specialist; and Clyde Crumley, extension agent-IPM.

A meal will be catered by Mustang Creek Barbecue in the LaSalle Church Hall after the tour.

Speakers at the hall include Jeff Nunley, South Texas Cotton Growers Association director; Michael Hester, of Texas Boll Weavil Eradication Foundation; Dwayne Vincent, Farm Service Agency programs and updates; and Andy Louderback, sheriff of Jackson County. They will go over new laws and regulations for farm vehicles and equipment.
