Online comments show state of U.S. thinking

Editor, the Advocate:
It seems that in these United States of America, truth has become a rare, if not missing commodity. Over the course of the past three years, the President of the United States has been accused of everything that the racists, bigots, fearmongers and hateful can imagine.
However, we do live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Which, too, is apparently the land of the ignorant and the home of the arrogant. I just read an extensive list of "firsts" for President Obama posted in the Advocate comments. If I had access to certain facts, a fact check of these so-called presidential firsts would be my first priority.
However, since no such fact check will be forthcoming, we are left with this list, (which has since been removed from the comments) the origin of which would seem to come from the right wing, if not tea party wing of the Republican party, which is so desperate to make President Obama a one-termer that they will say and perhaps do anything to assure his failure to win a second term.
Too, the fact that this "list" has appeared on this particular date; 05/29/2012, indicates other possibilities as well.
