The Old Landmark Committee is hosting its annual Juneteenth celebration beginning Saturday.

The theme for this year's two-weekend celebration is "Taste the Soul of Your Culture."

"It's an event that represents all cultures," said Old Landmark Committee board member Gary Moses. "This year's theme is about all cultures coming together to taste the food that has enriched the lives of many."

This weekend, guest gospel groups will perform at a Juneteenth Gospel Celebration at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 4102 N. Ben Jordan St.

Groups performing include The New focus, Souls of Faith and The Bosses for Christ.

The following weekend, guests are invited to go to Riverside Park for a day of activities featuring a moonwalk for children, and a domino tournament for the adults.

Additionally, there will be a watermelon eating contest.

"It's always a special time for one and all," said Moses.
