Texas High School Baseball Coaches All-Star Games

• Sunday, noon

• Shortstop: Miles Manning, Victoria West

• Saturday, noon

• Catcher: Kyle Bludau, Schulenburg

• Second Base: Dylan Blaha, Weimar

Miles Manning accomplished every goal during his senior season at Victoria West, except one.

"The only thing is, we didn't get past the second round," Manning said.

The Warriors were eliminated in the area round of the Class 4A playoffs by Corpus Christi Calallen.

But the short playoff run did nothing to diminish Manning's accomplishments.

He hit .507 with four home runs, one triple, 12 doubles and 27 RBIs.

He also had a 9-2 pitching record with a 2.31 ERA that included 72 strikeouts in 57.2 innings.

Manning will end his high school career as a member of the South squad in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association's Class 4A/5A All-Star Baseball Game scheduled for Sunday at noon at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

"I'm really excited about being able to play in this game," Manning said. "I know a bunch of the other players so I'm happy to get a chance to play with them."

Schulenburg's Kyle Bludau and Weimar's Dylan Blaha were named to the South squad in the Class 1A/2A/3A All-Star Game, which will be played Saturday at noon at Dell Diamond.

Manning was selected as a shortstop, the position he's expected to play at Sam Houston State next season.

"I kind of knew I'd be pitching a lot this season since I did it last season," Manning said. "They told me I might still be pitching a little next season, but I'll be primarily playing the infield."

Manning will play for the Houston Hustle Baseball Academy team this summer, but he's thankful to end his high school career at the site of the state tournament.

"Of course, I want to get a hit," he said. "But mostly, I just want to have fun."

Blaha will play second base and Bludau will play catcher.

Blaha pitched and played the infield for Weimar, which won the District 28-2A championship and advanced to the area playoff round. He has committed to play at the University of Houston-Victoria next season.

Blaha hit .507 with two home runs, three triples, nine doubles and 24 RBIs. He also scored 35 runs and had 21 stolen bases.

He had a 6-3 pitching record with a 0.82 ERA with 63 strikeouts.

Bludau led Schulenburg to a second-place finish in District 28-2A and into the regional quarterfinals. He will play at Temple College next season.

Bludau hit .429 with one home run, one triple, seven doubles and 23 RBIs. He had .551 slugging average and a .504 on-base percentage.

Corpus Christi Carroll's Lee Yeager and Boerne Champion's Chuck Foster will coach the South team in the 4A/5A game.

Bridge City's Chad Landry, Bishop's Nathan Borden and Johnson City's Randy Rutherford will coach the South squad in the Class 1A/2A/3A game.
