United Way proposal packets for 2013 now available at United Way office

June 20, 2012 at 1:20 a.m.

Requests for proposal packets are now ready at the Matagorda County United Way (MCUW) office at 2417 Avenue G in Bay City. Packets MUST be picked up; however, an electronic copy can be requested also.

Non-profit organizations requesting program funds for year 2013 are required to return completed applications to MCUW office no later than Friday, September 7, 2012.

United Ways as a whole provide funding for programs instead of openly awarded, meaning dollars are designated to certain service/programs.

MCUW's funding decisions are based on how well your programs fall within the United Way Community Initiatives; EDUCATION, HEALTH and FINANCIAL STABILITY.

The MCUW is proactive in its funding favoring preventive approaches and collaborative endeavors with non-profit partners. Priority is given to organizations that leverage additional support and serve as a catalyst for long-term, systemic change.

MCUW will consider admission packets form 501©3 tax exempt, charitable Health and Human Service organizations serving citizens of Matagorda County. Priority funding will be awarded to organizations with programs meeting our Community Initiatives; Education, Health and Income/Financial Stability which also encompasses the following categories: helping children succeed; responding to crisis; fostering independence for seniors; increasing self-sufficiency, financial stability; and promoting health and wellness. 501© 3 organizations in Wharton and Colorado Counties will also be considered for funding depending on their County Campaign through the Matagorda County United Way.

The MCUW Funds Distribution Committee, made up of community volunteers will review packets submitted and will present a recommendation to the board of directors to either deny the request for admission or recommend that the program be funded for the upcoming year.

The board of directors will make the final approval and each program admitted or denied will be advised as to their decision later in the year.

Please call Rachel Stone, MCUW Executive Assistant at 979-245-5852 or email at mcuwsec@sbcglobal.net if you have further questions.
