In this 2011 Advocate file photograph, Baulita Martinez browses through boxes of clothes at a clothing drive put on by the Victoria Jaycees. More than 200 Victoria residents were assisted with clothing during the inaugural drive.

For the second consecutive year, the Victoria Jaycees are conducting a clothing drive for the homeless and others in Victoria in need of attire, including shoes.

The first drop-off will be from 10 a.m. to noon June 30 at the Jaycee Hall behind the Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. North St.

Other clothing drop-off dates at the hall also are from 10 a.m. to noon July 14 and July 21.

Other options for dropping off clothing donations are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 3003 N. Vine St., but donors should call 361-571-0582 first to arrange for the drop-off.

In addition, the Victoria Jaycees can be called at 361-576-4300 to schedule a drop-off if needed.

In 2011, the clothing drive provided pants, shirts and shoes to more than 200 disadvantaged individuals in Victoria.

In addition, during the clothing drive, five families were assisted who had lost their homes in fires and an additional 24 boxes of clothes were taken to the victims of the Bastrop fires following the local distribution.

This year's local distribution will be in August at a date, time and location to be announced.
