Schedule of Crossroads Independence Day celebrations

PORT LAVACA - A reading of the Declaration of Independence at 10 a.m. on July 4th at Faye Bauer Sterling Park. The reading will be done by Ed Campbell, of Port Lavaca, a descendant of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The event is free and open to the public.
PORT O'CONNOR - Fireworks will be at dusk July 7 at King Fisher Front Beach Park. The event is free and open to the public.
POINT COMFORT - Activities start at 6 p.m. July 7 in the Point Comfort City Park. The pool will be free and open to the public. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. or as soon as it gets dark. Concessions will be sold.
CUERO - Old Fashioned Family Carnival, Cuero Municipal Park. 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Young Patriots Parade, inflatables, dunking booth, country store, face painting, plant sale, concessions, egg toss, watermelon seed-spitting contest, hula hoop contest, cake walk and other activities. No admission charge.
CUERO - Dusk. City fireworks display, city park.
YORKTOWN - 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, food and fireworks, city park.
COLETO CREEK PARK - Fireworks display after sunset Wednesday. Low-altitude fireworks will be shot over the reservoir from the Coleto Creek dam, with viewing from the park. The cost of the fireworks show is entrance to the park, $9 per vehicle, with up to four people in the car. If additional people are in the car, children under 12-years-old are free and adults are $2.
EDNA - Brackenridge Recreation Complex is hosting the annual Independence Day fireworks show at dusk Wednesday. The Antique Tractor Show begins at 9 a.m., featuring early model 1920s to 1960s vehicles. The Antique Tractor parade begins at 3 p.m., and cars will be driven through Brackenridge Park and campgrounds. Free parking for Tractor Show and fireworks will be available in the field across from the Harry Hafernick Recreation Center.
SHINER - 33rd annual Half Moon Holidays, July 7, 10:30 a.m., parade, downtown; music, 5K run, food and craft booths, washer tournament, biergarten, fireworks 9:15 p.m., Green-Dickson Park, street dance with Los Kolaches after fireworks.
REFUGIO - Town of Refugio's Fourth of July celebration, originally scheduled for Saturday at the Refugio County Fairgrounds, was canceled because of the dry weather.
VICTORIA - H-E-B Plus! Fourth of July Parade; parking lot, 6106 N. Navarro St.
8:30 a.m., line up; 9 a.m., parade begins. Open to children ages 2-12. Registration forms are available at the H-E-B Plus! business center and are due by July 2. Featuring bicycles, tricycles and wagons decorated in the spirit of Independence Day. Prizes will be awarded. For the safety of others, no motorized bikes, trikes or wagons will be permitted to enter. Parents must accompany children that are 4 years old and under.
