On the morning of June 7, the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent teamed up with Sure Bet to provide an onsite, hands-on experience for sixth-grade students from schools ranging from Hallettsville to Kenedy.

More than 100 students with 20 team leaders (graduates of the program) participated in the program by taking part in a number of activities including sorting donated food, washing Food Bank vehicles, cleaning windows and assisting the food bank with landscaping duties.

Sure Bet's mission is to create future leaders though goal setting, learning different skills and leadership principles.

This is complemented by exposing them to community projects where they can experience first-hand life in a variety of settings, including the private, public and non-profit sectors.
