Town Talk: Ross Mantey earns Eagle Scout rank

Ross M. Mantey has earned Eagle Scout rank.
His project was creating window security bars for the Boys and Girls Club of Victoria building.
He constructed 24 metal-bar panels for 23 windows at the club to reduce the amount of burglaries on the building. It required knowledge in carpentry, welding, and design.
Ross coordinated 219 man-hours of work with his Boy Scout unit and leaders.
The project was made possible with the help of Regional Steel and McCoy's Lumber and Building Supply and Sherman Williams Paint.
He earned 41 merit badges as a Boy Scout in BSA Troop 104 at John Wesley United Methodist Church. He was awarded The Order of the Arrow in 2009 at Karankawa Boy Scout in Mathis.
He is a sophomore at Victoria East High School where he is on the soccer team.
He is planning to pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering at the U.S.Naval Academy.
Ross is the son of Mike and Lanell Mantey, of Victoria.
