Bay City Police Department Crime Round up

On Saturday, March 17, 2012 in the early morning hours a family’s peaceful night of sleep in the 3100 block off Ave G was abruptly interrupted with the sound of breaking glass. Lt Lewis said the homeowners mother quickly retreated upstairs and notified her son who is the homeowner. Lewis said the homeowner armed himself with a 9mm handgun while the police were notified. Homeowner told officers that he saw the perpetrator coming upstairs and yelled at him to stop. Perpetrator ignored the order and continued. Homeowner fired one shot striking the assailant. Lewis said assailant was taken to Matagorda Regional Medical Center where he was later air-lifted to a hospital in Houston Texas. Lewis said the case will be referred to the Matagorda County District Attorney’s Office. Detective Corporal Richard Alvarado headed up the investigation.
In other news Lt. Lewis said on Thursday, March 15, 2012 Detective Scott Sherrill with his sharp detective skills armed himself with a surveillance photograph of a suspect vehicle set out to find the vehicle. Lewis said Sherrill with his determination found the vehicle at a residence. Lewis said Sherrill also identified the suspect at the residence who stole a credit card off a counter of a department store in the 4000 block of 7th and used it several times at various locations here in Bay City. Lewis said the case is still under investigation with charges pending. Lewis gives great praises to Detective Sherrill for a job well done
