SEADRIFT - People from around the world have gathered in Seadrift to pay homage to Texas through art.
On Saturday, sculptor Dieter Erhard will open the Texas Star Exhibit to the public at his art boat.
The collection includes pieces by 20 artists whose works are made from an assortment of glass, concrete and oyster shells. Oscar Rios Ochoa, of Guatemala, will be the featured special guest artist.
The show is at Sixth and Broadway streets.
The art outside will be on display at any time. The work inside the boat will be available by appointment only through March 2013.
Each participant used their own interpretation to construct their pieces. Erhard, 50, a native of Nuremberg, Germany, wants the spectators to do the same.
"Everybody is free to interpret for themselves," said Erhard, who winters in Texas.
Also planned are poetry readings and wine tastings.
