Best museum: Children's Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent

Paige Gedvillas said she wanted to help create museum awareness.

Advocate readers have helped support her efforts by voting the Children's Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent the best museum.

The museum's interim director said activities like Princess Boot Camp and Mommy & Me Teas create special moments for patrons of the Main Street museum.

Once a month the museum features $1 admission.

Gedvillas has partnered with Theatre Victoria and Victoria, Tx Independent Film Festival to help boost attendance.

The museum has even hosted an increased number of birthday parties.

"The word is getting out," Gedvillas said.
