Diets are no match for a Shipley doughnut.

More than the glaze, sprinkles and jellies, Shipley's have the foundation for perfection that all starts with the dough.

Owner Charlie Ng calls it the "Shipley Secret Recipe" and he says it is what keeps people coming back for more.

"Most people just buy a dozen glazed," he said.

At $5.49 for a box, it is a pretty good breakfast deal.

This is Shipley's third title for Victoria's best doughnut.

Shipley's is open from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday through Saturday
