A 5-year-old girl was transported to Citizens Medical Center after she was hit by a vehicle in the 2400 block of Ozark Street.

Debrah Soliz-Torres was driving a Honda Civic, traveling toward Nova Street, when she allegedly hit the unidentified victim.

Emergency crews responded to the call at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

"Witnesses say she ran into the street and got hit," said Victoria police officer C.J. Case.

Some neighbors gave a different account and said the child was already in the street when Soliz-Torres struck her. The children were playing on a slide nearby.

Case said the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. The victim, whose name was not released because of her age, was still being treated Saturday evening.

He said alcohol was not a factor and no citations would be issued.
