Dian Denker-Patterson has been named executive director of Keep Victoria Beautiful.
"Because of my history with the group and my passion to see Victoria grow, I thought this would be a great fit for me," Denker-Patterson said.
She has worked with the organization on multiple projects, as well as served on the board of directors.
"There are so many donors and individuals that have put time, money and effort into the history of this group. I would love to continue that legacy as executive director," Denker-Patterson said.
"I have a passion for the city, my community and this group. I am so excited to be offered this position to make a difference."
In her new role, Denker-Patterson hopes to look back at the strategic plans that were in place when she was a member of the board, according to a news release from the organization's board of directors.
"My top priority is informing the public on how they can get involved in their own way to beautify their city," she said.
"If as individuals, families, organizations and businesses, we can all take one step; we as a group can be proud of Victoria and encourage tourists to come back."
Denker-Patterson served as chairman of the board in 2008-09, as well as secretary and as a director, according to the news release.
She grew up in Victoria and worked in the insurance field for more than 10 years, while serving on numerous boards in Victoria County and organizing several events.
Denker-Patterson replaces Thomas Yantis, who served as executive director of Keep Victoria Beautiful since January 2011.
