Thomas' Heather Marlowe slides past UHV shortstop Brittany Arrendondo for a stolen base during Thursday's game at the AII tournament.

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The University of Houston-Victoria was technically the home team at the Association of Independent Institutions softball tournament. Considering the tournament was in the home state of its opponent from Thomas University, that advantage may not have been evident through regulation softball.

The Jaguars used their last at-bats in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the NightHawks 4-3 Thursday. Leadoff hitter Porsha Ramos' third hit of the night brought in Kara Waukau for the walk-off win.

The Jaguars (39-6) never trailed in the contest after scoring three first inning runs, before recording their first out. Nevertheless, the NightHawks (18-27) rallied to score two runs in the seventh off UHV reliever Dawn Villegas to extend the game.

The win improved Villegas to 15-4 on the season. Alexa Fair relieved Thomas starter Rachel Ivancic after the first, and didn't allow the Jaguars to score again until Ramos broke the deadlock.

The Jaguars, winners of 14 straight, won for the 17th time in 21 games away from Victoria.
