WHEN: Tuesday, Expo: 4:30-6:30 p.m.; Cooking school: 6:30-9:30 p.m.WHERE: Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. North St., VictoriaCOST: Tickets sold out

The final tickets for the Tuesday night Taste of Home Cooking School and Expo event were sold Thursday evening.

Reserved seating for the The Victoria Advocate cooking show sold out in March, but general admission tickets were still for sale.

"Thursday morning, we had about 20 tickets, and we were sold out by roughly 6:15 that night," said Emily Weissmiller, the Advocate's marketing manager. "It's definitely a popular show and a great community response."

Weissmiller said the tickets have sold out between one and two weeks in advance for the past two years the Advocate has sponsored the event.

Pre-purchased tickets can be picked up at the will call station at the community center on the day of the event.

Each participant will receive a goodie bag with special offers and items, including a free subscription to Taste of Home magazine.

"We're going to do a few things differently this year," Weissmiller said. "The cooking expo will be on a stage in the annex area before the show actually starts."

The expo will include demonstrations on how to use different cooking utensils that will be featured in the main show - and a few addition sneak-peek recipes, Weissmiller said.

Vendors with food samples and a few live interactive booths will be set up in the annex, as well.

"We'd like to remind attendees that we encourage them to bring canned food the night of the show," Weissmiller said. "H-E-B is sponsoring a food drive for the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent. As soon as they check in and get their tickets, they'll be able to drop off their canned goods."

Attendees who bring a canned food donation will be entered into a drawing for a gift basket donated by H-E-B. The proceeds benefit the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent.
