Victoria College honors top athletes

Victoria College hosted a sports banquet on Monday, May 2 honoring its student athletes for the 2011-2012 season. The Most Valuable Players from each sport are: Tennis - Garrett Gomez• VC Treasures - Skyeleigh Ficklen

• Volleyball - Dani Clowers

• Women's Basketball - Courtney Duke

•  Men's Basketball - Donte McGee

• Baseball - Billy Sippel

VC Sports also recognized one male and one female athlete with a Student Athlete of the Year Award. Carlos Cortez and Alison Peters were each selected for this award.

VC's All-Academic Team was comprised of athletes who have completed at least 12 hours at VC and had a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. These athletes are: Carlos Cortez, Brandon White, Spenser Strnadel, Brandi Calvo, Kara Frederick, Jackie Folmar, Kasey Gonzalez, Billy Sippel, Cody Clayton, Nicole Gregory, Cole Hischhauser, and Kendle Patek.

Spenser Strnadel and Ethan Simcik were both awarded the Frank Pickens Scholarship for 2012.

VC Sports will host the VC/Chick-fil-A High School All-Star Baseball Game May 26 at Riverside Park at 6 p.m. More than 20 area high schools are invited to showcase their seniors. Mark your calendar for a great day of baseball.
