Two men were arrested in connection with multiple car burglaries early Monday, police said Friday.
Victoria police officers responded to 911 calls in the 200 block of West Larkspur Street about 3:30 a.m. Monday.
One caller told the dispatcher that a man was sitting in the resident's pickup, which was parked in his driveway, according to a news release. The resident confronted the man and he left in a white four-door car with a passenger.
About an hour later, the police received a second call from the 800 block of Simpson Road.
Officers found a vehicle that matched the description given at the West Larkspur Street home driving in the 900 block of Simpson Road, but only one man was in the vehicle, according to the news release.
The second man was found walking down the 9300 block of North Navarro Street.
Both men were arrested within an hour of the second phone call, said Victoria Police Sgt. Eline Moya.
The driver, Russell Glaser, 23, of Victoria, was charged with theft, unlawful carrying of a weapon and an outstanding warrant for probation violation in a burglary case.
Adrian Holmes, 21, of Victoria, was charged with theft and two counts of possession of a dangerous drug.
Police suspect both men were involved in at least six burglaries of vehicles in the area, according to the news release.
Police Chief JJ Craig encouraged residents to be familiar with their neighbors, so they can alert the police when anything looks suspicious.
"This is a great example of how the partnership between the citizens of Victoria and the Victoria Police Department has provided a benefit for everyone in our community," Craig said in the news release. "A call to police from two citizens who knew something was not right or out of place prompted an investigation which led us to the apprehension of two criminals.
