First job: At age 12, I wanted to go punk rock and cut my own hair. My Dad said I needed to get a job so I could get a haircut, so I found work doing odd jobs for an old, eccentric lady. I built cat ramps in her house, but mostly sat and listened to her talk.

What it taught me: I learned compassion for older people and that it can be sad getting old. I also learned that just listening can make a big difference to a person.
