Victoria Main Street Program manager to leave

The Victoria Main Street Program is in search of a new leader.
Program Manager Mike Sigg will step down from his role for personal reasons, he said Wednesday afternoon. His last day is June 15.
"I let the board know a couple of weeks ago," he said. "They're taking applications and looking."
Sigg started with the organization on May 1, 2011, and said things went a long way in the days since.
"We started pretty much from ground zero," he said, noting the program obtained full Main Street status and developed partnerships along the way. "I think that, with the support it's got and the partners we have, there will be no problem getting a highly competent manager."
The Main Street board posted the job opening in newspaper ads, with the Texas Historical Commission listserv and with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, said Louise Hull Patillo, the board's president. Already, a number of resumes have come in.
She said the board is setting up interviews. The ideal candidate would have good people skills and business management experience.
A background in the Main Street program would be a plus.
Although the board hopes to come to a consensus within the next few weeks, Hull Patillo said Sara Rodriguez, Victoria Main Street's assistant to the manager, could handle things in the interim if necessary.
Hull Patillo said Sigg was the right person for the job when he joined on, and that she wished he could stay a bit longer. Still, she said she understood his desire for a bit more free time.
Sigg came to Victoria after retiring as city manager of Wooster, Ohio.
He said he looked forward to traveling in the near future, but said he enjoyed Victoria.
"There are some great people here," he said. "Some good, quirky people, intelligent people and some who are tremendously hardworking. Victoria's got a lot going for it."
