Cuero City Secretary Lisa Moravitz has been placed on administrative leave.
City Manager Raymie Zella said Moravitz, who has been city secretary since November 2000, was placed on paid leave beginning Monday.
"I put her on administrative leave so we could do an internal investigation of her department concerning a possible breach of security," said Zella, declining to give specifics.
Moravitz, 38, posted on her Facebook page that the possible breach concerned emails, and said "I don't have a guilty conscious because I haven't done anything wrong."
In 2007, Moravitz and the city of Cuero settled a federal lawsuit Moravitz filed in 2006 claiming racketeering by city officials. She received $35,000 cash and retained her job in the settlement.
