Girl Scouts offering summer training

The Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas is offering several training opportunities at a variety of workshops this summer.

Registration deadline is one week before each class begins.

Summer camp registration as well as training opportunities for teen camp counselors and adult volunteers are also ongoing.

With a service center located in Victoria, Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas serves more than 17,000 girls in a 26-county area with other service centers in Laredo, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley.

Certified Babysitter

Instruction by American Red Cross includes first aid, CPR and other safety skills.

Fee: $30 for registered Girl Scouts; $42 for non-Scouts.

Time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

June 21 - Victoria

June 28 - Refugio

July 12 - Cuero

Program Aid-Volunteer in Training

For girls in grades 6-12. Focus of training is cooperative learning, leadership, team-building skills and how to become a volunteer.

Fee: $12 for registered Girl Scouts; $24 for non-Scouts.

Time: 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Date/Location: June 9, Victoria Service Center, 104 W. River St.

Flag Day Event

Instruction from VFW members and military personnel on flag etiquette, how to fold and honor flag. Breakfast served.

Fee: $3 for registered Girl Scouts; $15 for non-Scouts.

Time: 8 a.m.-noon
