Primary voting opens Tuesday at county's 35 precincts

Primary voting

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Registered voters must vote at their assigned polling location, which is listed on the yellow voter registration card.

Two months after the ballots would normally be cast and counted, Victoria voters will have their chance at the polls Tuesday.

Voting for the Democratic and Republican Party primaries opens at 7 a.m. at the county's 35 polling locations.

Voters must vote at their assigned precinct polling location on election day. Polls close at 7 p.m.

This election is partisan, so voters must chose to vote on a Democratic or Republican Party ballot. A candidate must win at least 51 percent of the vote to move on, and a run-off election is set for July 31.

Presidential nominees for the Democratic Party, are Bob Ely, Barack Obama, Darcy G. Richardson and John Wolfe. Republican Party nominees are Michele Bachmann, John Davis, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Ron Paul, Charles "Buddy" Roemer, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.

U.S. senate candidates for the Democratic Party are Addie Dainell Allen, Sean Hubbard, Paul Sadler and Grady Yarbrough. Republican candidates are Glenn Addison, Joe Agris, Curt Cleaver, Ted Cruz, David Dewhurst, Ben Gambini, Craig James, Tom Leppert, Lela Pittenger.

U.S. representative, District 27 Democratic candidates include Rose Meza Harrison, Murphy Alade Junaid, Ronnie C. McDonald and Jerry J. Trevino. Republican candidates include Blake Farenthold, John Grunwald, Don Al Middlebrook and Trey Roberts.

The Railroad Commissioner Democratic candidate is Dale Henry. Republican Party candidates include Becky Berger, Beryl Burgess, Warren Chisum, Joe Cotten, Christi Craddick and Roland Sledge.

For an unexpired term on the Railroad Commission, Al Lee, Elizabeth Murray-Kolb, Gerg Parker and Barry Smitherman are running for the Republican nomination. There are no Democratic candidates.

Supreme Court Justice, Place 2 Republican candidates are Steve Smith and Don Willett. There are no Democratic candidates.

Supreme Court Justice Place 4 Republican candidates are John Devine, David Medina and Joe Pool, Jr. There are no Democratic candidates.

Supreme Court Justice, Place 6 Democratic candidate is Michele Petty. The Republican Party candidate is Nathan Hecht.

Court of Criminal Appeals Presiding Judge candidate for the Democratic Party is Keith Hampton. The Republican candidates is Sharon Keller.

Place 7 Judge for Court of Criminal Appeals Republican candidate is Barbara Parker Hervey. There are no Democratic candidates.

Place 8 Judge for Court of Criminal Appeals Republican candidate is Elsa Alcala. There are no Democratic candidates.

State Board of Education Place 2 member Democratic candidates are Ruben Cortez, Jr., Larry E. Garza and Celeste Zepeda Sanchez. Republican candidates are Veronica Anzaldua and Laurie Turner.

State Senator, District 18, Republican candidate is Glenn Hegar. There are no Democratic candidates.

The State Representative, District 30 Democratic Party candidate is Alex Hernandez, Jr. The Republican candidate is Geanie Morrison.

Chief Justice, 13th Court of Appeals District Democratic candidate is Roy Valdez. Rose Vela is the Republican candidate.

Justice, 13th Court of Appeals District, Place 2 Democratic candidate is Nora Longoria. Republican candidate is Tom Greenwell.

Justice, 13th Court of Appeals District, Place 4 Democratic candidate is Nelda Vidaurri Rodriguez. Republican candidates are Bradfort Condit and Jaime Tijerina.

Justice, 13th Court of Appeals District, Place 5 Democratic candidate is Gina M. Benavides. Republican candidate is Doug Norman.

District Judge, 24th Judicial District Democratic candidate is Sandra McKenzie. Republican candidates are Chuck Cole and Jack Marr.

District Judge, 135th Judicial District Republican candidate is Kemper Stephen Williams. There are no Democratic candidates.

Victoria County Sheriff Republican candidates are B. Scott Hornstein and T. Michael O'Connor. There are no Democratic candidates.

County Tax Assessor-Collector Democratic candidates are Jane Bernal and Rena Scherer. The Republican candidate is Donna Rodriguez.

County Commissioner, Precinct 1 Democratic candidates are Danny Garcia, Annie Ramos, Chris Rivera, Kenny Spann, Gabriel Soliz and Kenneth Wells. The Republican candidate is Tony Mallette.

County Commissioner, Precinct No. 3 Democratic candidate is Rey Herrera. Republican candidates are Gary Burns and Gary Charbula.

Constable Precinct 1 Democratic candidates are Richard Castillo and Richie Williams. There are no Republican candidates.

Constable Precinct 2 Republican candidate is James Calaway. There are no Democratic candidates.

Constable Precinct 3 Republican candidate is Kenneth Easley, Jr. There are no Democratic candidates.

Democratic County Chairman candidate is Kelli Gill. Republican County Chairman candidate is Michael Cloud.
