A poem for veterans on Memorial Day

My Solider, My Hero, My Love

I see the distant sadness in your eyes

Whose eyes have seen the desolate desert in a senseless war

Trying in vain, eyes filled with tears to do justice in sending

Back home a fallen brother as a whole.

No one can know your pain other then a comrade in arms,

The true heroes who have fought and keep fighting for our freedom.

Like our forefathers before and future generations to come

Believe in the unity of our nation.

Come home and rest your weary head upon my embracing arms

To kiss your lips and dry your eyes,

Give you refuge a place for your soul to heal and mend that broken heart.

Close your eyes and find solace.
