Steve Zeplin has been on a roll the last few weeks, and his bowling is as hot as a hot summer day in Victoria.
The left-handed Zeplin blasted the pins on the last night of the Friday Mixed League with a great 752 series to claim the high-scoring honors for the week.
He started with games of 205 and 268 before coming close to a perfect game on his last game. Zeplin started with the first 10 strikes before a 9-pin count spare left him with a 289 final.
Zeplin also rolled a 257 high game and 685 set in another league.
David Matthews posted the second high total with a 265 high game, complimenting a 692 series in the Rolling Thunder summer league.
He also rolled a 247-668 in the Friday Mixed League.
Steve Dickinson may have posted the fourth best overall total with a 678 series Friday night, but he had the strikes in the right place to break the bank at the Century Lanes.
He won the accumulated prize of $3,930 for a very nice summer vacation.
Other scores of note for the men were Sal Chavez (249-652), Kim Blake (253-649), Javier Hernandez Jr. (269) and Mike Stacy (249).
Denise Gabrysch posted the top women's score in Friday Mixed competition with a 222 high game and 569 total.
The applications for the Victoria USBC youth scholarship are available at the Century Lanes front desk and the deadline for submitting is June 15.
This summer's Century Lanes No-Tap Jackpot Doubles Tournament will start Wednesday at 7 p.m. The cost is $40 per team with strike pots, 300 game pot and Super Pot available.
