Goliad High School agriculture teacher Trey Psencik died in a car wreck Thursday night.
A family friend, Nugget Cunningham, confirmed Psencik died in the wreck. Her daughter is one of Psencik's students.
Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby was at the scene about 11 p.m. but could not confirm Psencik was in the one-car crash.
He said Justice of the Peace Sylvia Valdez pronounced one person dead, and a helicopter airlifted a woman who had been in the vehicle to a Corpus Christi hospital.
The road at Farm-to-Market 1762, about two miles north of U.S. Highway 59, was still blocked at 11 p.m., Brumby said.
In the past, Cunningham has praised Psencik for building up the school's agriculture program. Because of his leadership, several more students were signed up to take classes in the program next year, she said.
Psencik's wife, Amy Psencik, is an elementary and intermediate physical education teacher in Goliad.
