Mark Brooks hits from a bunker on the 16th hole during the first round of the Stanford St. Jude Championship golf tournament in Memphis, Tenn., Thursday, June 5, 2008. Brooks made par on the hole and finished the day at 4-over-par 74.

Some of the top golfers in the state of Texas - and beyond - will come to Victoria Country Club beginning Wednesday morning for the 14th Texas Senior Open.

The number of players in this year's field is down but has several former PGA Tour golfers, current members of the Champions Tour and pros from around the state. It includes 1996 PGA Championship winner Mark Brooks, La Cantara Texas Open winner David Ogrin and Champions tour mainstay David Lundstrom.

Dave Rummells won last year's event on the final few holes after battling it out all day with Mitch Adcock. He is back this year looking to repeat as champion.

Events are running all week at Victoria Country Club, with the final round running Friday morning.

EARNINGS: $10,304,601

The Fort Worth native and Texas alumnus was the PGA Championship winner in 1996, one of his seven wins in a career that began in 1984. He was also the runnerup to Retier Goosen at the 2001 US Open and a member of the U.S. President's Cup team in 1996. Brooks, who was a three-time all-American for the Longhorns, is as well known for his work in golf course design as well as his skill at the game. He helped design Southern Oaks Golf Club in Fort Worth.

All three are former PGA tour professionals with countless tournament champions between them, and they are playing together on the first two days. Lundstrom, left, has won more than $4 million in his career; Rummells, center, is last year's Texas Senior Open winner and two wins on what is now the Web.com Tour; and Edwards has five PGA tour wins on his resume.
