A Victoria police officer was assaulted late Monday evening while investigating a disturbance call.

Officer Tanya Brown responded to the call at 12:40 a.m. in the 2300 Block on Mimosa Street, said Sgt. Lee Lemmons. The suspect attempted to leave the scene and grabbed Brown's right arm and pushed her to the ground. Brown suffered a bruised upper arm.

The suspect, whose identity was not available Tuesday night, was arrested and charged with assaulting a public servant.
