Dave Matthews was trying for a perfect start during Red River League play last Monday night.

He started the first game with the first nine strikes before a 10 pin leave stopped his string and he had to settle for a spare and strike in the 10th frame for a 279 game.

Matthews followed with games of 217 and 232 to roll a 728 series and earn the honors for the week.

His only open was a 6 pin washout in the last frame of the third game.

Matthews also rolled a 689 set in another league.

Steve Dickinson and Chris Flores also broke the 700 mark. Dickinson posted a 255 high game on his way to a 714 set. Flores also started league action with the first nine strikes before 9 pin counts in the 10th and 11th frame netted him a 278 game and 706 total.

Other scores of note for the men were Larry Mikulec (258-697), DoLee Knowlan (248-696), Mike Stacy (688), Steve Zeplin (289-686), Dandy Richards (249-672), Kevin Rosales (270-670), Les Fuhrman (277-669), Randy Vivero (256-668), Rick Kalmus (660), Glen Pitts (659), Mike Osterson (656), Scott Snow (257-652), Brian Hyden (649), Randy Morris (267), Sterling Kocian (256), and senior bowler E P Perez with a nice 242 game.

Lynda Mikulec was stringing strikes in Sugar & Spice League competition to lead the women's high total.

Lynda started with games of 200 and 190 before getting in a rhythm and bagging the first nine strikes in the third game before a split in the 10th frame stopped her bid for a 300 game. She finished with a 656 series.

Christine Speer with a great 247 high game complemented a 626 set for the second high.

Morgan Matula rolled a 236-617 and Erin Faltysek was on target with two sets of 218-607 and 231-616 to also break the 600 mark.
