A firefighter walks to the back of a home on the 4700 block of Key Road in Bloomington that caught on fire Wednesday evening. No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured. The fire was mostly extinguished by a passerby when firefighters arrived on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No one was injured Wednesday night in a house fire in Bloomington, but the home was damaged.

The fire was reported at 7:24 p.m., but was already out when firefighters arrived, said Battalion Chief Shannon Martin, of the Victoria Fire Department. A passer-by put the fire out with a water hose.

Martin said there was extensive damage to the utility area of the home and smoke and heat damage throughout the rest of the structure.

"The occupant was next door and stepped outside and saw flames coming from the backdoor," Martin said.

The cause of the fire is unknown and Victoria County Fire Marshal Ron Pray is investigating the fire.
