DISTRICT 30-4A



Victoria East Titans at Calallen Wildcats

• Last year: Calallen, 22-0.

• Notes: East (3-6, 2-3) travels to Corpus Christi to play Calallen (7-2, 4-1) for the third straight season, but the previous two games were non-district contests. Calallen has clinched a playoff berth. To make the playoffs, East needs a win at Calallen and a Victoria West loss at Gregory-Portland, or a win at Calallen and a West win at Gregory-Portland by 10 points or less, or a loss at Calallen and a West loss at Gregory-Portland and a Tuloso-Midway loss at home to Beeville. East's Jonathan Ortega has passed for 860 yards and 11 touchdowns in three games, and Deondric Lofton has 32 receptions for 699 yards and eight touchdowns.

Victoria West Warriors at Gregory-Portland Wildcats

• Last year: Gregory-Portland, 16-14.

• Notes: West (5-4, 2-3) travels to Portland to play Gregory-Portland (7-2, 3-2) for the third straight season. Gregory-Portland has won the previous two games. Gregory-Portland has clinched a playoff berth. To make the playoffs, West needs to beat Gregory-Portland by 11 points or more, or beat Gregory-Portland and have Victoria East lose at Calallen, or lose to Gregory-Portland and have Victoria East lose to Calallen and Tuloso-Midway win against Beeville. West's Garrett Rother has passed for 1,086 yards and 13 touchdowns, and rushed for 936 yards and nine touchdowns. Gregory-Portland's Devin Bisby has rushed for 1,482 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Beeville Trojans at Tuloso-Midway Warriors

• Last year: Did not play

• Notes: Beeville (2-7, 0-5) plays Tuloso-Midway (3-6, 1-4) for the first time since 1995 when they were last district opponents. Tuloso-Midway won that game 42-7. Both teams are out of playoff contention, but the game could figure in determining the district's playoff representatives. If East losses to Calallen and West loses to Gregory-Portland, a Tuloso-Midway win would send West to the playoffs, and a Beeville win would send East to the playoffs. Beeville's Cameron Kremers has passed for 769 touchdowns and six touchdowns.

George Ranch Longhorns at Bay City Blackcats

• Last year: Did not play

• Notes: George Ranch (4-5, 2-3) travels from Richmond to play Bay City (0-9, 0-5) for the first time. George Ranch is attempting to finish its first varsity season at .500. Bay City is trying to avoid its first 0-10 season since 1974. Bay City has been shut out three times and is averaging 9.7 points per game.

El Campo Ricebirds at Columbus Cardinals

• Last year: Did not play.

Notes: El Campo (9-0, 5-0) visits Columbus (3-6, 2-3) seeking its second outright district title and undefeated regular season in three years. El Campo has already clinched a Division I playoff berth. El Campo coach Bob Gillis was the head coach at Columbus for four seasons. El Campo leads the district in team offense, averaging 417 yards per game, and team defense, limiting opponents to an average of 180.7 yards per game. Columbus is second in the district in team offense, averaging 393.2 yards per game. El Campo's Jack Davis has rushed for 838 yards and nine touchdowns, Montray Johnson has rushed for 835 yards and 10 touchdowns, and Bryce Brandl has rushed for 739 yards and 11 touchdowns. Columbus' Tyler Simcik has passed for a district-leading 2,660 yards and 28 touchdowns, and Darius Stevens and Dari'yon Shorter have combined for a district-leading 92 receptions for 1,509 yards and 19 touchdowns.• Radio: KULP, 1390 AM

DISTRICT 26-3A



La Grange Leopards at Cuero Gobblers

• Last year: Did not play.

• Notes: La Grange (8-1, 4-0) and Cuero (4-5, 2-2) play for the first time since 2005. Cuero won that game 41-0. La Grange has clinched the district championship and a playoff berth. Cuero would clinch a playoff berth with a win, but would need help to reach the postseason with a loss. Cuero is trying to avoid finishing the regular season with a losing record and missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year. La Grange leads the district in team defense, yielding an average of 218.6 yards per game. La Grange's Logan Vinklarek has passed for 1,231 yards and 17 touchdowns, and Rodney Filmore has rushed for 1,204 yards and nine touchdowns. Cuero's Blake Reeve has passed for a district-leading 1,425 yards and 11 touchdowns, Justin Rossett and Ross Riemenschneider have combined for a district-leading 73 receptions for 969 yards and eight touchdowns, and D'Anthony Hopkins and Ray Horton have combined to rush for 1,183 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Giddings Buffaloes at Yoakum Bulldogs

• Last year: Did not play.

• Notes: Giddings (6-3, 1-3) and Yoakum (5-4, 2-2) play for the first time since 2005. Giddings won that game 45-21. Yoakum and Giddings need a win and help to get into the playoffs. Yoakum has lost two straight games since beating Cuero. Giddings has lost three straight games since opening district with a win over Cuero. Giddings' Adam Dock has passed for 1,122 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 383 yards and three touchdowns. Yoakum's Chase Hermes has passed for 1,203 yards and 10 touchdowns, Tre'vontae Hights has passed for 290 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 424 yards and six touchdowns, and Keith Ratley has 27 receptions for a district-leading 811 yards and eight touchdowns.



Gonzales Apaches at Smithville Tigers

• Last year: Did not play.

• Notes: Gonzales (6-3, 2-2) travels to Smithville (4-5, 1-3) attempting to clinch a playoff spot. A win would guarantee Gonzales the Division I playoff berth. Gonzales missed a chance to secure a playoff berth when it lost to Cuero last week. Smithville needs a win and help to reach the postseason. Gonzales leads the district in team offense, averaging 384.9 yards per game. Gonzales' Cecil Johnson has rushed for an area-leading 1,823 yards and 23 touchdowns. Smithville's DaAaron Johnson has rushed for 682 yards and four touchdowns, and Gray Morris has rushed for 580 yards and five touchdowns.

DISTRICT 14-2A, DIVISION I



Hallettsville Brahmas at Hempstead Bobcats• Last year: Hempstead, 35-13.

Notes: Hallettsville (9-0, 4-0) travels to Hempstead (7-2, 3-1) seeking to avenge two losses from last season. Hallettsville lost to Hempstead 35-13 in the regular season and 34-0 in the regional playoffs. Hallettsville is ranked No. 7 in the state Class 2A poll. Hallettsville has clinched its first district championship since 1991 and is seeking its first outright district title since 1979, which was the last time it finished the regular season at 10-0. Hempstead would clinch a share of the district title with a win. Hallettsville leads the district in team offense, averaging 423.4 yards per game. Hempstead leads the district in team defense, yielding an average of 241.1 yards per game. Hallettsville's Tiedrick Smith has rushed for a district-leading 1,189 yards and 17 touchdowns, Carson Schindler has passed for a district-leading 1,353 yards and 17 touchdowns, and Dalton Herrington and Trenton McGee have combined for 60 receptions for 1,003 yards and 11 touchdowns. Hempstead's Will Smith has passed for 965 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 1,123 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Rice Consolidated Raiders at Edna Cowboys

• Last year: Edna, 35-28.

• Notes: Rice Consolidated (4-5, 2-2) travels from Altair to play Edna (6-3, 3-1) with a playoff berth on the line. If Hallettsville beats Hempstead, Edna could clinch a playoff berth with a win or by losing be less than 14 points. If Hempstead defeats Hallettsville, the winner would clinch a playoff spot. Edna clinched a playoff berth last season with a win over Rice Consolidated. Rice Consolidated's Jordan Johnson has passed for 952 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed for 727 yards and 10 touchdowns. Edna's Dominic Gosson has rushed for 826 yards and 11 touchdowns, and DeQuan Cantu has passed for 644 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed for 409 yards and six touchdowns.

Industrial Cobras at Palacios Sharks

• Last year: Did not play.

• Notes: Industrial (2-7, 0-4) travels from Vanderbilt to play Palacios (5-4, 0-4) for the first time since they were Class 3A district opponents in 2001. Palacios won that game 31-30. Palacios coach Mike Treybig was the head coach at Industrial for seven seasons. Industrial has lost nine straight district games and Palacios has lost 12 consecutive district games. Industrial's Jay Rubio has passed for 1,022 yards and six touchdowns, and Will Knopp has rushed for 711 yards and nine touchdowns. Palacios' Anthony Garcia has passed for 1,291 yards and 12 touchdowns, and Zach Garcia has 31 receptions for 713 yards and seven touchdowns.

DISTRICT 13-2A, DISTRICT II



East Bernard Brahmas at Danbury Panthers

• Last year: East Bernard, 62-7.

• Notes: East Bernard (9-0, 5-0) and Danbury (8-1, 4-1) have clinched playoff berths. East Bernard is ranked No. 4 in the state Class 2A poll. East Bernard has clinched a share of the district title and can win its second straight outright district championship with a win. Danbury would clinch a share of the district title with a win and be the third seed with a loss. East Bernard leads the district in team offense, averaging 391 yards per game, and team defense, yielding an average of 158.7 yards per game. Danbury is second in the district in team defense, giving up an average of 179.1 yards per game. East Bernard's Ty Slanina has rushed for 719 yards and 13 touchdowns and passed for 337 yards and six touchdowns and has three interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. Danbury's Tyler Blackwell has rushed for 747 yards and eight touchdowns.

Boling Bulldogs at Tidehaven Tigers

• Last year: Boling, 33-6.

• Notes: Boling (3-6, 1-4) and Tidehaven (1-8, 1-4) close out their seasons in El Maton. Boling has lost three straight games since defeating Brazos. Tidehaven is coming off its bye week and has also lost three straight games since beating Brazos. Boling's Allen Gillis has rushed for a district-leading 1,241 yards and seven touchdowns. Tidheaven's Eric Villarreal has 483 yards rushing and two touchdowns and 214 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

DISTRICT 14-2A, DIVISION II



Schulenburg Shorthorns at Lexington Eagles• Last year: Did not play.

Notes: Schulenburg (6-3, 3-2) travels up U.S. Highway 77 to play Lexington (7-2, 5-0) for the first time since the 2005 Division II regional playoffs. Lexington won that game 40-14. Lexington is ranked No. 10 in the state Class 2A poll. Lexington has clinched a share of the district title and a playoff berth. Schulenburg needs a win over Lexington and a Rogers loss against Johnson City to reach postseason play. Schulenburg's Ross Bludau has passed for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns, and Jeffrey Lara has a district-leading 36 receptions for 948 yards and 10 touchdowns. Lexington's Kogan Garrett has passed for a district-leading 2,051 yards and 24 touchdowns, and Jason Washington and Logan Meuth have combined for 54 receptions for 1,165 yards and 14 touchdowns.

DISTRICT 15-2A, DIVISION II



Dilley Wolves at Karnes City Badgers

• Last year: Dilley, 14-7.

• Notes: Dilley (6-3, 5-1) and Karnes City (8-1, 6-0) have split their two games since becoming district opponents. Karnes City has won eight straight games and has clinched a share of the district championship and a playoff berth. Dilley has clinched a playoff berth. Karnes City can clinch the outright district title and top seed in the playoffs with a win. Karnes City is leading the district in defense, yielding an average of seven points and 125 yards per game. Karnes City has 10 interceptions, including four each by Philip Vaughan and K.D. Glenn.

Nixon-Smiley Mustangs at Poth Pirates

• Last year: Poth, 51-7.

• Notes: Nixon-Smiley (1-8, 1-5) and Poth (7-2, 5-1) play for the 11th time since 1994. Poth owns a 9-2 edge during that span. Poth has already clinched a playoff berth. Nixon-Smiley's lone district win came over Bloomington. Nixon-Smiley has surrendered 34 points or more in each of its district losses.



Bloomington Bobcats at Natalia Mustangs

• Last year: Did not play.

• Notes: Bloomington (0-9, 0-6) closes out the season with a 154-mile trip to Natalia (1-8, 1-5). Natalia picked up its first win of the season last week against Nixon-Smiley. Bloomington has lost 17 straight games and 57 consecutive district games.

DISTRICT 16-2A, DIVISION II



Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats at Refugio Bobcats

• Last year: Refugio, 48-0.

• Notes: Skidmore-Tynan (3-6, 3-3) and Refugio (9-0, 6-0) play for the 21st time. Refugio leads the series 20-1. The one setback came in 2006 and was Refugio's last regular-season loss. Refugio is ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A state poll and has clinched a share of the district championship and the top seed in the playoffs. Refugio has won 24 consecutive games, 60 straight regular-season games, 36 straight district games, and 37 consecutive games at Jack Sportsman Bobcat Stadium. Refugio's Travis Quintanilla has passed for an area-leading 2,774 yards and 43 touchdowns, and Marcus Thompson has an area-leading 44 receptions for 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns.

DISTRICT 13-1A, DIVISION I



Thrall Tigers at Flatonia Bulldogs

• Last year: Flatonia, 41-40 OT.

• Notes: Thrall (5-4, 2-1) and Flatonia (3-6, 0-3) play for the fifth straight season. The teams split the previous four meetings, which were non-district games. Flatonia is trying to end the season with a win and snap a six-game losing streak. Thrall needs a win or a Holland loss to Thorndale to remain in playoff contention.

DISTRICT 15-1A, DIVISION I



Yorktown Wildcats at Shiner Comanches

• Last year: Shiner, 41-6.

• Notes: Shiner (8-1, 3-0) goes after its third straight win over Yorktown (6-3, 1-2) since the teams became district opponents. Shiner is ranked No. 7 in the state Class 1A poll and has clinched a share of the district championship and the top seed in the playoffs. Yorktown needs a win and a Three Rivers loss to Ganado to advance to postseason play. Yorktown's Derek Franke has rushed for a district-leading 1,290 yards and 21 touchdowns. Shiner's Trevion Flowers has rushed for 894 yards and 12 touchdowns, Evel Jones has rushed for 794 yards and nine touchdowns, and Jacob Stafford has rushed for 468 yards and 11 touchdowns.



Ganado Indians at Three Rivers Bulldogs

• Last year: Did not play.

• Notes: Ganado (7-2, 2-1) would clinch the second seed in the playoffs with a win over Three Rivers (4-4, 1-2). Ganado had its 11-game district winning streak come to an end against Shiner last week. Three Rivers is coming off its bye week. Three Rivers could get into the playoffs with a win or a Yorktown loss to Shiner. Ganado leads the district in team offense, averaging 382.4 yards per game, and team defense, yielding a total of 190.1 yards per game. Ganado's Clay Vesely has rushed for 1,045 yards and 10 touchdowns but missed last week's game against Shiner with a back injury. Three Rivers' Wesley Guzman has rushed for 953 yards and nine touchdowns.

DISTRICT 14-1A, DIVISION II



Runge Yellowjackets at Falls City Beavers

• Last year: Falls City, 56-0.

• Notes: Karnes County rivals Runge (8-1, 3-0) and Falls City (7-2, 3-0) meet to decide the outright district championship and the top seed in the playoffs. The loser will be the second seed in the playoffs. Falls City has won 12 straight over Runge. Runge's last win over Falls city was a 47-13 decision in 1998. Runge's Dylan Torres has rushed for 966 yards and seven touchdowns, and Rob Molina has rushed for 733 yards and 13 touchdowns. Falls City's Cameron Soto has passed for 1,121 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 660 yards and 15 touchdowns.



Louise Hornets at Woodsboro Eagles

• Last year: Louise, 48-0.

• Notes: Louise (1-8, 1-2) travels to Woodsboro (7-2, 1-2) with the third-place playoff berth at stake. Louise defeated Woodsboro the last two years in non-district games. Louise is coming off a 48-0 loss to Falls City. Woodsboro had its bye week after dropping a 30-22 decision to Falls City. Louise has been held scoreless six times this season and has scored 42 of its 54 total points in district play. Woodsboro's DeBray Bonner has rushed for 1,190 yards and 16 touchdowns.

TAPPS DIV II, DISTRICT 3



San Marcos Academy Bears at St. Joseph Flyers, 7 p.m.

• Last year: Did not play.

• Notes: San Marcos Academy (4-5, 1-5) and St. Joseph (2-7, 2-4) end the season at Patti Welder Stadium. The teams last played in 2009 when they were district opponents. St. Joseph won that game 44-2. San Marcos Academy's lone district win came over Austin St. Dominic Savio. St. Joseph has defeated St. Dominic Savio and Austin Regents in district play. St. Joseph scored 69 points in its win over St. Dominic Savio and a total of 75 points in its other eight games.

TAPPS DIV. III, DISTRICT 5



St. Paul Cardinals at Sacred Heart Indians

• Last year: St. Paul, 14-12.

• Notes: St. Paul (6-2, 4-0) travels from Shiner to Hallettsville's Brahma Memorial Stadium to play Lavaca County rival Sacred Heart (6-3, 4-0). The winner will claim the outright district championship and the top seed in the playoffs. The loser will be the second seed in the playoffs. The teams played twice last season. St. Paul won the district game for its third straight win over Sacred Heart after losing the previous 17. Sacred Heart came back to capture a 21-7 victory in the Division IV state championship game. St. Paul's Adam Hollenbach has rushed for 1,165 yards and 21 touchdowns, and Martin Kennedy has rushed for 705 yards and nine touchdowns and has eight catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Sacred Heart's Jonathan Vanek has rushed for 1,141 yards and 16 touchdowns, and Leightin Pilat has passed for 718 yards and eight touchdowns and rushed for 501 yards and five touchdowns.

NON-DISTRICT



Weimar Wildcats at Van Vleck Leopards

• Last year: Weimar, 27-8.

• Notes: Class 1A, Division I Weimar (6-3) goes for its third straight win over Class 2A, Division II Van Vleck (3-6). Weimar has clinched the District 13-1A, Division I championship and will have a first-round bye in the playoffs. Van Vleck is completing its season. Weimar's JaKyle Harris has rushed for 1,224 yards and 13 touchdowns, and Juwan Almedia has passed for 717 yards and five touchdowns. Van Vleck's Dean Bagby has passed for 1,171 yards and eight touchdowns, Trustin Norris has rushed for 833 yards and eight touchdowns, and Kylon Brown and Colbey Calk have combined for 70 catches for 800 yards and six touchdowns.
