Two people were taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro on Friday afternoon when an 18-wheeler crashed into a Chevrolet Cruze on U.S. Highway 59 North at the Telferner exit, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Wayne Cipriani. The driver of the Cruze, Japhus Brown, 27, of Edna, was traveling in the right lane when the 18-wheeler attempted to change lanes, a witness told officials. Brown and a passenger were treated and released from DeTar, a hospital spokeswoman said. Isaias Montelongo, 28, of Brownsville, was cited for changing lanes when unsafe, Cipriani said.
