A fight over missing clothing from a laundromat led to the stabbing death of a former Victoria man in an Austin parking Friday, police said.

On Wednesday, Austin police arrested Brian Ross, 28, of Austin, and charged him with murder in the death of Adam Gonzales, 32.

On Friday, Gonzales died of multiple stabs wounds, according to medical examiners.

The confrontation between Ross and Gonzales started in the parking lot of the Lanier Village Shopping Center, 8106 N. Lamar Blvd. The incident escalated to a physical altercation, which led to the assault, according to an Austin Police Department arrest affidavit.

Gonzales, who lived in a nearby apartment, fell to the ground. Ross fled the scene, according to a witness statement in the affidavit. Gonzales was pronounced dead at 9:31 p.m.

A funeral Mass for Gonzales will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Victoria.
