Flanked by coach Rodney Stryk and her mother, Gloria, Flatonia senior Taylor Williams made her commitment to South Carolina to play softball official on Wednesday, the first official day for athletes to sign for the next school year.
She was one of several to sign that day and in the coming days. Golfer Ali Cowan, who played golf at Memorial and Victoria East as a freshman and sophomore and made the state tournament twice as a medalist in Victoria, signed her letter of intent Wednesday to play for Texas State. She is now attending school at Midland Lee.
Also signing in a low key ceremony in El Campo was Bryce Brandl, who will play baseball at Texas State next year. He is also the team's quarterback as they prepare for La Grange on Friday.
East softball player Lexi Elkins will make her commitment to Texas Tech official when she signs on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Victoria East High School.
