Trends: Steers and heifers, steady.

Steers: (200-300) $158-$230; (300-400) $155-$207; (400-500) $126-$194; (500-600) $109-$155; (600-700) $100-$130; and (700-800) $94-$117.

Heifers: (200-300) $125-$200; (300-400) $124-$170; (400-500) $113-$195; (500-600) $103-$180; (600-700) $98-$135; and (700-800) $81-$116.

Slaughter cows: $40-$74; slaughter bulls, $60-$92; stocker cows, $60-$110; bred cows, $650-$1,250; pairs, $950-$1,140; horses, $100-$175.

Receipts: 2,017

Had 257 cows and 51 bulls. The packer market continued to be steady with last few weeks with a little more money on higher yielding fat cows. Packer bulls were steady. The calf market turned around was overall significantly higher. Lighter calves below 500 pounds were steady to a little lower but all classes above that were $2-$5/cwt Higher especially the heaver end of the feeder cattle. Four to five weight heifers were $2-3/cwt higher. Good active market.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $87-$95; lower grades, $67-$84.

Packer cows: breakers, $68-$75; boning cows, $65-$81.50; canners and cutters, $68-$82.50; light and weak, $40-$55.

Steer calves: (200-250) one $190; (300-350) $157-$194; (350-400) $165-$200; (400-450) $170-$194; (450-500) $147-$186; (500-550) $143-$159; (550-600) $139-$156; (600-700) $128-$137; (700-800) $129-$135.

Compared to our last sale: Calves and yearlings sold steady to $1 to $2 lower. Packer cows sold steady.

Week ago: 1,548; Year ago: 2,098

Compared to last week: Better quality classes of calves and yearlings sold fully steady on the lighter weights and $2 to $3 lower on classes 600 pounds and up. Plainer quality and very fleshy classes sold $2 to $4 lower.

Packer cows and bulls sold $1 to $2 higher on about 140 head total. No good packer bulls on hand.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $72-$84; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $61-$72; light weight canner cows, $50-$61.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, none; utility and cutter bulls, $85-$91; light weight canner bulls, $77-$85.
