Hallettsville Festival of Lights kicks off Saturday

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will swoop into Hallettsville at noon Saturday marking the start of the 17th annual Festival of Lights.

The couple will be on hand until 4 p.m. to visit with children and for photo opportunities.

Between 5:45 and 6 p.m., the switch will be flipped as the lighting extravaganza makes the Lavaca County courthouse dazzle with lights.

Santa's kiddie parade is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. followed by a lighted Christmas parade at 6:15 p.m. Gary Moses will serve as master of ceremonies.

A Christmas pageant will be performed at 7:30 p.m. The pageant will be repeated at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The lights will remain lit on the courthouse through Jan. 6.
