St. Mary's Altar Society meets

The St. Mary's Altar Society met Nov. 11 at 401 S. Liberty St.

Thirty-four members and one guest, Jeff Osterhout, were present. The Rev. Patrick Knippenburg gave the invocation.

There were 52 in attendance at the Quarterly Bunco party held in October. The next Quarterly Bunco Party is in January at Holy Family Catholic Church.

The Nov. 3 Harvest Bazaar was a fun and successful day. Adele Donalson and Shirley Kloesel thanked all of the workers. The proceeds of the Bazaar will be used to buy church and altar supplies.

November Altar Care persons are John and Anita Palladino. Brenda Lejune will do altar care in December.

Janell Kruppa, 361-575-8166, and Kathy Fojtik, church secretary, 361-573-4328, will take requests for flower donations in memory or honor of a loved one; proceeds from donations will be used to buy church Christmas flowers.

The next Coffee and Doughnut Social will be Dec. 9, after the 8 and 10:30 a.m. Masses.

Hostesses for the meeting were Mel Meanor, Martha Hamel, Pat Babb, Patti Osterhout and Sandra Maxwell.

The society will host a recruitment and parish meal on Jan. 13, 2013. The Parish will be invited.

The next meeting will be Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. with a Christmas Social to follow.

Sandra Maxwell won the door prize.

The meeting adjourned with a prayer and a reading of "The Meaning of the Flag-Draped Coffin" in honor of Veterans Day. A social hour followed.
