Wharton graduate signs with Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Colts have signed defensive tackle Kellen Heard.
The 6-foot-6, 339-pound Heard played in eight games this season for the St. Louis Rams. The Wharton graduate had five total and four solo tackles.
Heard has played in 23 games and made two starts during his NFL career. He has 25 total and 17 solo tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble.
Heard was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Oakland Raiders in April of 2010 before being added to the team's practice squad.
The Buffalo Bills signed him to the active roster in December of 2010 and waived him in August of 2012.
Heard was picked up on waivers by the Rams on Sept. 1 and waived on Nov. 10.
Heard played college football at Texas A&M for three seasons before finishing his career at Memphis.
