SAN ANTONIO - Wharton graduate Kris Looper has signed a letter of intent to pitch at the University of Incarnate Word in the upcoming season.

Looper spent last season at Alvin Community College where he had a 2-4 record with one save. Looper had 39 strikeouts in 46.2 innings.

"We are recruiting Division I players and every class we recruit is going to be better than the previous one," said Incarnate Word coach Danny Heep in a release. "This is the first season we have been able to sign this many players in the early period and that is a direct correlation to us going to NCAA Division I."

Looper could be used as a starter or a reliever at Incarnate Word.
