Naish Gaubatz, 16 years old, earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Aug. 21, exactly 100 years to the day after Arthur Eldred, the young man who earned the very first Eagle Scout rank. Naish's Eagle Scout project benefited the Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He led a group of scouts who designed and built six redwood benches to be placed at the Air Academy tennis courts. Naish is an all-state tennis player and has played on the Varsity tennis team for three years. He is the son of Maurice and Melissa Gaubatz, of Colorado Springs, and the grandson of Jackie and the late Richard Dale Stover, of Victoria, and James and the late Era LaNelle Gaubatz, of Angleton.
