Because of a loss of pressure in a water well in Goliad, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is requiring the city of Goliad to issue a boil water notice to its residents.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled and cooled before its use.

The water should be brought to a boil for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, residents may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, city officials will notify residents that the water is safe for consumption.

Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

Residents with questions may contact Larry Zermeno at 361-645-3454 or Cindy Shilinga at 361-645-9606 or the TCEQ at 512-239-4691.
