Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice

Oct. 19, 2012 at 5:19 a.m.

THUMBS-UP

Thumbs-up to the outstanding "Parade That Never Was" in downtown Victoria last Saturday. Half of the city must have turned out with enthusiastic flag-waving, cheering and applause. Floats were great, ranging from a huge army vehicle to a disabled veteran in a self-propelled wheelchair.

Congratulations to whoever planned and organized such an event.

Bernice, Victoria

Thumbs-up to Jennifer Preyss for the recent 2012 Louis Cassels Religion award (Advocate, Oct. 7) for coverage of religion and faith topics. You are fortunate to have her on the Victoria Advocate staff. Her journalistic ability is exceptional.

Also thumbs-up to Robert Jaklich, Victoria School District Superintendent, for his wisdom regarding the recent bullying situation. Wisdom is needed overall - for those being bullied and those bullying. The Victoria School District is extremely fortunate to have Mr. Jaklich.

And thumbs-up to "A Father's Protest" advocating for his son and the excellent coverage by the Victoria Advocate, Oct. 6, pertaining to bullying.

Marle, Victoria

THUMBS-DOWN

Thumbs-down to the local TV station who never breathed a word about the "Parade That Never Was."

Bernice, Victoria

Thumbs-down to Diane Boyett, Victoria Independent School District spokeswoman's "cold" response regarding the student being bullied and bullying in general, Victoria Advocate, Oct. 6.
